~A Blog List or Grab My Button?~

When I began the process of putting together my blog about six or seven months ago, one of the things that I read over and over again was that "the thing to do" was to create a "Grab My Button".  So I did....

I've been noticing, over the last few months, the variety of ways that bloggers do or don't show their favorite reads.  Some have no blog lists or buttons on their blog at all even though they offer a "Grab My Button".  Some have a "Grab my Button" and choose to do both buttons and blog lists (like me).  Some use only blog lists and then some use only "Grab my Button" lists. And then some have no "Grab My Button" at all.

Boy, I have a headache. Whew!  ;)

I like having the blog list because you can do them with a time line but there's no way to do that with the buttons.  At least, I haven't figured out a way.  I like having the buttons because I think they catch the reader's eye better.  So, have you figured out where I'm going with this yet?

I guess my question is, why do you do what you do?  What are the pros and cons?  I'm sure there are some or else there wouldn't be such a variety of options.  What works for you?  I would love your two cents worth on this.  Not that this is going to solve the world's problems or put the right candidate in the President's seat (sorry...hehe).  I don't park on these things very often, but today is my day.  That's what happens when I start thinking. :)

Thanks.  From the bottom of my pea-pickin' heart! ~

Update:  I have had a few tell me that my Grab My Button was not working.  So, I went back and created it again.  I would appreciate it if someone would test it to let me know if it is working.  Thanks!

I do a list and the buttons. Not everyone has a blog button. I think buttons are pretty and add some pretties to the sidebar.

ps: I tried putting yours on my sidebar but it wouldn't load. Is there a prob with the html maybe?

I'm a button addict. :) I have some in some of my sidebars, but mostly I put them on a blog page devoted to other blogs' buttons. Like Lori said, they are pretty. Have a great day!

I prefer the Blog Lists - that way they can update. I always know when my favorite girls have new posts to read, and I never miss out on commenting. Blog buttons are pretty though!

Okay...I'm still learning so tell me...if I put someone's blog button on my blog then I can click that button and go right to their blog? Or I can use my dashboard on blogger to read all my favorite blogs and see them all listed and who's just added a new posting? (the dashboard is what I use now and I love it) I would not use the buttons as I follow so many. Am I understanding this correctly or not?

I seriously need to take some time to update my blog page - I have no idea how to do either! I did start out with a list of blogs I read when I first started my blog but it has fallen way behind. I either need more hours in the day or I need to learn how to survive on less sleep!

Thank you for visiting by blog and for your kind comments. I need to get linky links or something so I can be linked to other blogs. Is that what you use? I have no idea how to do buttons. When you mention lists are you talking about lists like my archives list?

Velma, I did both at first but removed the buttons because there was no way I could use all of them and I felt like I was excluding some plus they took up alot of space on my side bar. I like the blog list because I can quickly see who has a new post and the subject is featured for others to see. That might be more than two cents

I don't know much about buttons...I do think they are a good eye catcher...but ask me about HTLM or is it HLTM...and I am clueless:)

Your angel biscuit recipe below is one of our faves...

Have a great day!
ps...yes, I put the milk away:)

I like my blog list. It is easy for me and I am able to see when
friends have posted something new.
The buttons are nice but I don't use them.

I rely on my blog list, I look there to see who has a new post. Except for two blogs that I get by email and I go to them as soon as I see them, if time allows.
There is not room enough on the side of my blog for everyone's buttons. I view way too many for that.
