In my early teens, I can remember being in the kitchen helping my mother cook dinner. My mother worked a full time job and so having me help her fix meals that were quick and easy to get on the table was a necessity. My mother was born right after the worst of the depression and cooking simple, economical farm style meals to feed a large family was what she was taught and then she passed on to me. I grew up in a home of not only the country style meals, but Hamburger Helper, canned biscuits and cake mixes (which isn't bad, don't get me wrong!).
In my Junior High Home Ec class, I learned, beyond the skills that Mom taught me, how to to follow recipes to create yummy dishes.. So cooking a lot of foods from scratch truly intrigued me and I fell in love!
I look forward to sharing many recipes with you; some that have been long time family favorites, some new ones, and some from my cookbook collection.. Plus maybe a few tips that I have learned over the years.
One new feature that I have added is a link that allows you to print off the recipes in recipe card form. Something like this that I added to my very first recipe shared....Lime Bars With Macadamia Nut Crust.
**If you have any problems with this feature, please let me know. :)
I look forward to cooking in the kitchen with you!
