~Welcome!~

Well hello!  I'm so glad that you found your way Down Our Country Road!  I hope that you can stay for a awhile and visit.  I have so much I want to share with you on this new blog of mine.

So, what is this blog all about you ask??  Well, I'll be sharing some of my sewing and craft projects.  I love to sew...I've been doing so for 40+ years now!  I've got some new creations for my online shop that I'd like you to see as well as the things I make for my home and family.  I  need to continue working on my youngest daughter's quilt...it is WAY overdue!!  Maybe you could help encourage me on this one.  I'm working on crocheting an afghan...it's supposed to be an "on the road" project.  You know, the kind that you do while you're in the car traveling a long distance?  Yep, one of those.  I love to scrapbook and, though I have neglected it terribly, it is something I am very passionate about.  If you don't already scrapbook, maybe this will encourage you.  But I'd love to see some of your scrapbooking ideas if this is one of your hobbies.  I'll also be doing a tutorial from time to time about some of the sewing tips that I have learned over the years and even some new ones that I just learned!!!

I have also had about that many years of cooking experience and will be sharing favorite recipes not only from my cookbook collection but those I have "borrowed" from others and those that have been in my family for many years.  Do you have those special recipes that always have to be served at a holiday meal?  Me too!!! I can't wait to swap recipes with you.
As a grandmother, or Mammer in this family's case, it is always such a joy to be able to talk about our families.  After all, it is the one area of my life that I am most blessed to experience and, like a young mother, you'd think I was the only grandmother in the world to have such beautiful and talented grandchildren, right?  So, you might have to bear with me get to know my family a little better as I share stories and pictures with you..

One of the most favorite hats that I have worn is that of a bed and breakfast owner.  What I had to do to get my house ready to receive guests; decorating rooms; preparing meals, encouraging guests to write in the journals...these are just a few of the things that I want to share about a most interesting and blessing-filled time in my life.

Would you like to see how I made our newly constructed farmhouse style home look like an old one?  I'd love to share with you some of the things we added to our home as well as some of the antiques that I use in decorating.  Whenever I was asked if this was an old farmhouse, I knew that we did it right!  And that is such a good feeling, isn't it?

Do you love antiques?  I hope so!  I love them, especially those that old, shabby, worn and even chipped.  There's something about the feel, the character, the smell, the wonder of where they came from and who owned them...it all touches a special place in my heart.  Maybe it's because it reminds me of my grandmother.  But I love to collect it...dishware, pictures and furniture.  I can't wait to share the things that I have collected and those that I find when I'm on the hunt!

I love to collect poems, quotes and inspirational thoughts that make me smile, laugh and even cry; some that touch me deeply and some that change the way I think and act. Sometimes, I just like to think out loud...pondering about life, about my faith, the path that God has me on and, oh, just anything that touches me at the moment.  It's always nice to have someone to share those thoughts with and I so look forward to having you here to share yours with me as well.  We can smile, laugh and even cry together!!

See?  I told you I have so much to share with you and these are just a few things I want to talk about!  I hope that you'll join me on this blogging journey.  It would be nice to have you stop by and join me from time to time.  If you can't stay and visit, would you at least drop me a note to say that you dropped in?  I'd love to know that you were here.

I look forward to meeting you and having you as part of my blogging family.

I pray you have a sunshine-filled day today ~
