~I'm Celebrating My Birthday With a Giveaway~

Yesterday, I shared with you how much fun I had creating a needlebook for a recent swap I participated in.  So much fun that I created another one to give away to one of my dear friends here on this blog.  One thing that I didn't tell you is that today is my birthday!!  Yes, it is...seriously!
I am so grateful for all of my blogging friends and the friendships that have come as a result.  I am blessed.  And I thought there was no better way to celebrate than by giving back to YOU as my way of giving my most humble thank you.  Are you ready?

Just as a reminder, this is the one I made for Renee.  Sorry, but this is NOT the one I'm giving away!

THIS is the one I made for one of you!  I found some more 1930s vintage style fabric that I fell in love with in shades of soft pinks and blues with a touch of green.  Three yo-yos in coordinating colors and a couple of leaves to round out my floral bouquet.

Inside the book, there is a little pocket for a couple of needle threaders and, if I can find one, I'll also include a little tape measure.  A must-have for any sewing project!  A place to store a few safety pins and even some buttons that you could tack on so they won't get lost.

Lots and lots of sewing needles.  One can never have too many.  There's plenty of space to add different types of needles...embroidery, etc.  And there's always a need for straight pins, too.

I found another pair of small scissors in a coordinating color, which are actually embroidery scissors, but work great for snipping thread and seams in general sewing projects.  I love using them.

The scissors are connected to a loop of coordinating grosgrain ribbon with a Velcro closure so that you can remove the scissors for easier use.  And there's a leather fob to protect those sharp points.

On the backside, I used a coordinating blue fabric and attached one of my labels.  Dawggone Cute Creations is the name of my Etsy store where I sell a few of my handmade wares.

And to keep your little book intact, I used an elastic hair band and yellow button as a closure to keep everything in its place.

Now, the rules are very simple.  With Mother's Day coming this weekend, my thoughts always turn to how blessed I am to not only be a mom but also to have a mother who loved me beyond measure.  It wasn't until years after her death that I found out exactly how much.  (the story is amazing but too personal to share).  I still miss her after 35 years of being gone from this earth but I look forward to the day that we will be together again.

So, what is it about Mother's Day that makes it so special for you?  Is it a special memory.. like mine... or do you have a special tradition, breakfast in bed, family dinner?  That's it...just share with me about what makes Mother's Day so special for you and you are in the drawing!
Now...if you'd like a second chance at winning, post the photo link below somewhere on your blog or FB page and then come back and let me know.  Spread the word!!

The drawing ends two weeks from today...Friday, May 25th.  Since that will be a holiday weekend, the winner will not be announced until the following Tuesday.

I look forward to hearing from you~

I love that needlebook!
I'm so blessed to still have my mother and while I won't see her this weekend, I'll give her a call but my favorite thing about mother's day is my boys. I won't get to see them either, but I am truly blessed that they have all grown into wonderful young men. I'm so proud of all of them.
Hope you have a wonderful Mother's Day and Happy Birthday!!!

My Mother was my role model and a very strong and intelligent woman. She's gone for many years now but her words and wisdom still whisper in my ear. I was blessed to have such a wonderful example for a Mother.
Happy Birthday to you Velma...you should be getting presents on your birthday, not giving them but I do love your needle book!
I hope you have a wonderful day and blessings all year long!

Happy Birthday Velma! I hope you're enjoying your day.
Well..my mom is my best friend. We find things to laugh about every single day. I've had to depend on her a lot in my 20's and early 30's because of my arthritis. But she is such a trooper about it!
She's the best mom I could have asked for.
Velma, I know you have very special relationships with your children, and now your grandchildren. I hope you have a wonderful Mothers Day!

We lost my Dad when I was nine so Mom had to be two parents in one and if I do say so myself she did a FANTASTIC job!
She has been gone for almost five years and I miss her lots!

Happy (belated) birthday to you Velma!!
I hope it was a great one, and that you were pampered :)

You made another beautiful needle book. I'm always so impressed with your talents, and your eye for design and color!!

I loved reading your tender thoughts about mother's... thank you.

What makes Mother's day so special for me .. is that my family knows how much I love flowers and gardening and always puts forth the effort to get the garden in, to get the hanging baskets planted and up, and treat me to breakfast in bed.
I'm grateful for them!

I'm off to spend the weekend with my hubby and kiddo's ... catch ya later gater.

Have a wonderful,fantastic, awesome Mother's Day!!

I am new to your blog but will plan to subscribe via email so I don't miss anything! We obviously share many of the same interests. The needlebook is absolutely gorgeous -- just beautifully done, with so many little details.

As for Mother's Day, my own mother is in heaven now, but I am blessed to have learned many things from her about cooking and baking, sewing, books and poetry, etc. My grandmother was an amazing woman and I learned much from her as well. My adult children were not with me on this Mother's Day but my dear husband and dad took me out for brunch, so that was a treat.

Thanks for the opportunity to win the needlebook. It is amazing!

Oh Velma that is just so dang cute! You went to a lot of work to make this sweet needle book and I LOVE the fabrics. My Mom didn't raise me...my Dad's Mom (Nana to me) did along with my Grandpa and my Dad. When I would make my Mother's Day cards in school they were always for my Nana... and Grandpa would always take me up town and let me buy something for her..my choice. I think the gift that stands out most to me was the time I bought her a little wooden plaque that had a little dinner bell hanging from it with a saying painted on the wood. It said "Good Bread Good Meat...Good Gosh Let's eat!". She loved that thing and it hung on their kitchen wall all the years she was alive. She was the best "Mom" and I loved her very much. I still miss her....she passed away the day before my 25th birthday 1978.
Thanks for the opportunity to enter your Draw Velma...that's very kind of you to give something away to celebrate YOUR birthday. Take care.
Maura :)
